Valerie (“Val”) Johnson serves as Vice President of Human Resources (talent, leadership, culture, total rewards) and Administration (office, aviation). Val is a member of the Executive Committee and reports to the CFO, Tom Wargolet.
Val leads teams focused on creating differentiated Team Member engagement. This includes all areas that empower a positive, unique employee experience.
Val joined Christensen Farms in April 2015 and possesses a comprehensive, strategic view of the functions she leads along with the connection of employee experience to achieve business goals. She has more than 25 years of experience in leading Human Resources and other functions, primarily in the retail industry, most notably with Best Buy in Richfield, MN; Ascena Retail Group in Mahwah, NJ; and Sears Holdings Corp. in Chicago, IL; as a peer to senior leaders within each of these organizations. She started her career as an HR Transformation Consultant with William M. Mercer Co.
Over her career, Val has served on multiple non-profit Boards and Committees, and currently represents Christensen Farms on the Minnesota Governor’s Workforce Development Board and Greater Mankato Growth through Project Green Seam. Val holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Communications and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin.
