It all began in 1974 when brothers Bob and Lynn Christensen bought two bred gilts from a local neighbor. By the time Bob graduated in 1980, the two had formed a 140-head farrow-to-finish operation, which at that time was one of the largest sow herds in Brown County, Minn.
Today, Christensen Farms is the largest family-owned swine producer in the United States and in the world with operations in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Colorado and South Dakota. As one of the nation's top three producers, we raise enough fresh pork to feed more than 12 million people annually-that's three million pigs a year.
